UAW President Shawn Fain Rallies Cincinnati Workers Amid Looming GE Aerospace Strike

UAW President Shawn Fain electrified a crowd of more than 600 union members in downtown Cincinnati as tensions rose over contract negotiations with GE Aerospace.

The rally at Hard Rock Casino came just ahead of the current contract’s expiration on August 27 at 11:59 p.m.

UAW Local 647—representing workers at GE Aerospace facilities in Evendale, Ohio, and Erlanger, Kentucky—voted 84% to authorize a strike if talks break down.

Key sticking points include job security, health care costs, and paid time off.

Some workers voiced frustration with management’s lack of compassion and strict policies.

GE Aerospace employs approximately 9,000 locally and has announced a $113 million investment in the Cincinnati region.

If a strike occurs, it could ripple through the area’s $5 billion aerospace industry and affect thousands of families.
